M.S. Public Relations

The Master of Science in Public Relations is a 48-hour, two year degree program for students who want to build their skills or increase their understanding of the latest developments in the field of public relations. Under the philosophy of the Department of Mass Communications and Journalism Studies, this program synthesizes a strong theoretical background in mass communications, generally, and public relations, specifically, along with the technical computer skills and applied writing and design skills needed to be successful in the public relations environment. No thesis or thesis project is required of this degree program.

- MCOM 4160 Mass Communication Theory (4)
- MCOM 4300 Issues in Freedom of Expression (4)
- MCOM 4320 Brands and Identities (4) or
- MCOM 4912 International Health Communication
- MCOM 4550 Effects & Consequences of the Mass Media (4)
- MCOM 4560 Quantitative Research Methods (4)

Electives (12 credits) in Mass Communications or other departments. May not be taken in the Women's College or University College.
