Programs and Requirements
In the Department of Mass Communications and Journalism Studies, you
can select from a diverse and innovative set of graduate programs. All
of these programs offer you not only the skills necessary to succeed in
the communications field, but the perspective to do so as an ethically
informed and socially aware communicator. Granting degrees since 1933
- well before some of the media taught today were even invented - the
department draws on its rich history in the field to inform its creative
curriculum and prepare its students for the coming decades.
M.A. Mass Communications
Students pursuing the Master of Arts in Mass Communications can
choose from two program options:
- Student-Designed Emphasis
- Video Production Emphasis

M.S. Advertising Management
The Master of Science in Advertising Management is joint degree
program between the Department of Mass Communications and Journalism Studies
and the Department of Marketing in the Daniels College of Business. This
program is designed for individuals who want to build their marketing
skills within the context of mass communications organizations.
