MCOM Admissions and Financial Aid- Application Requirements
Personal Statement: 2-4 page essay explaining motivation for application, personal and professional goals, and any information or perspectives that will better inform the faculty of your capability to pursue graduate-level work. Include resume or C.V. To ensure proper and timely processing of your application, send all
application materials below in ONE packet to: DU Financial Aid: see Office of Financial Aid All financial aid requests start with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form available at the link above. Please complete the FAFSA as close to Feb. 15 as possible and note that the deadline is March 1. The university centrally processes all requests for financial aid for entering students. In order to apply for loans and departmental assistance, you must first complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For complete instructions, follow the link above to DU's Office of Financial Aid. To receive priority consideration, it is important that you complete this process by the application deadline, so plan ahead.
The Department of Mass Communications and Journalism Studies works to decrease the financial demands of its admitted students. These come in the form of scholarships and assistantships. Loans, work study and Colorado Grants (for Colorado residents) are available through the Financial Aid office (note: you must complete the FAFSA form and check the appropriate boxes to be considered for loans, work study and grants). Several students are also selected each year to serve as teaching assistants in writing and video classes. TAs receive stipends and/or tuition waivers for assisting faculty with classes. International students applying for a GTA position, in lieu of the TSE score, which has been withdrawn in many countries, must take the TOEFL (Internet) test. Students applying for teaching assistantships (GTA) must score 26 or higher on the TOEFL IBT speaking subsection. To register to take this test, contact www.ets.org/toefl. The organization supplies information regarding the test, costs and test locations for other countries. To apply for departmental assistance, complete the MCOM
Financial Aid form and submit it with your application for admission
by February 15. International Students should use the International
MCOM Financial Aid form. |
