Internships and Careers
Internships
While some students choose to complete a thesis for the degree, many others
choose the internship option. The School of Communication places over
200 interns every year through its unique and respected Internship
Program, and IIC students have regularly secured both domestic and
international internships. In addition, IIC students have access to
GSIS Career Services, which also is highly successful in placing students
with internships in their field of choice.
Careers
Graduates of this program are prepared to pursue careers in a
wide variety of arenas, including international and intercultural public
relations and marketing; broadcast, print and Internet journalism; government
diplomacy; cross-cultural and diversity training; college teaching and
international education; conflict resolution and cross-cultural human
resources/organizational communication. Alums of this program hold jobs
such as:
- Editorial writer/journalist with The Denver Post
- Diversity trainer with Lucent Technologies
- Producer with 20th Century Fox Television
- Assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister of Barbados
- TV journalist/public relations specialist with Norge TV in Norway
- Translator with Quark Technologies
- Human resources and development trainer
- University instructor of languages and intercultural communication
- Study abroad coordinator with Fulbright commission in London
- ESL manager in the Peace Corps (Ukraine)
- Producer with Reuters Video (Washington, D.C.)
- International Admissions (Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey)
