Beth Suter, assistant professor in human communication studies, recently published three articles: “My sister doesn’t really get it”: Lesbian couples’ management of public-private dialectical contradictions” in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships; “About as solid as a fishnet: Symbolic construction of a legitimate parental identity for nonbiological lesbian mothers,” in Journal of Family Communication; and “Female veteran’s identity construction, maintenance and reproduction,” in Women and Language. Assistant Professor in Human Communication Studies Bernadette Calafell was recently elected vice-president of the Organization for Research on Women and Communication (ORWEAC) at the Western States Communication Association conference in February 2007. In addition, as vice-chair of the Latina/o Communication Studies Division and La Raza Caucus of the National Communication Association, she will coordinate program planning for the national convention this fall.
