DU first fielded a competitive debate team in 1907. The team is now directed and coached by faculty and students in Human Communication Studies.

 

 

DU Debate Team

Undergraduate students at DU can compete on the DU Debate Team. Housed in the Department of Human Communication Studies, the debate team competes regionally and nationally in NDT policy debate. A limited number of scholarships are also available for debaters.

To apply for a debate scholarship, please send the following information to Daniel Lair, Human Communication Studies:

1. A letter of application stating why you want to debate and what your goals are as far as college debate. Include what sort of time commitments you are willing to make.

2. A resume that lists all of your debate tournaments and the results of each.

3. A letter of recommendation from your high school debate coach under a separate cover letter.
